Thunder Valley 9th May
Added 03 May 2010 By K18EVN
This coming Sunday at Thunder Valley Raceway, we have seen a small fixture tweak, now on the agenda we have Scottish Ftooz, 1600 Stox, 1300 Saloons, 1400 Rods and 2 litre bangers.

I'm not sure as to what to expect from the bangers this week, however, if you aint there, you'll miss out! Personally, I think we can expect to see some of the Rejects, Coalpower, TM and Team Extreme, with possibly one or two other self drivers, though, that is all unconfirmed.

With the 1300s coming to life, and Gordon Alexander certainly showing them how to mix it up, it could be interesting to see if he will feel the wrath of the bumper from those he picked on last week! There is probably around 15 1300s active in Scotland now, and should they all turn up this week, then we could have some cracking racing - Last week I think we seen probably some of the best racing this year in Scotland. We could expect to see Shaz back out and back to form after a few problems over the last couple of weeks, in addition, there could be even more new drivers out on track, with a couple of drivers almost ready to go.

The 1600s should as always, put on a show, with some great racing guaranteed. Paul Barron will be looking to close the gap further on Stuart Cowie who is now less than 10 points ahead. We could see John-Lee Green back out on track, after his coming together with Barron a couple of weeks ago - Will this develop further, or will it be left as it was? I guess, we'll just have to wait and see! Chris Harkness was certainly flying last week, and could be one to beat should he get away from the scraps early on - He'll be up to blue grade now after winning two races last week, which should make him a little harder to catch!

The 1400 hot rods have provided some excellent racing so far this season, with numbers picking up as the weeks go on. We've now had 13/14 drivers take to the track, with 10/11 of them now becoming regular racers. Jim Pitcaithly is the man to catch it seems, after him finding a good dry weather setup now too! Ian Taylor and Ian Ostler are in hot pursuit in the track points championship, with less than 10 points seperating the 3 of them.

Don't forget, any photos with the race2print watermark on scottish-stockcars.net can be pre-ordered for collection/payment in the track shop at TVR. Come along to the track shop for an array of racing goods for spectators, drivers and race crews!

Come along to Thunder Valley Raceway this coming Sunday for some great racing, bring your friends and family too.

If you fancy trying out the racing yourself, but can't afford to buy your own race car, why not get involved and try it yourself with Paul Fords hire car - For more information about hiring the 1300 stock car, contact Paul on 07826 929 378.

Or why not get involved with our production series we intend on starting up soon.. All you need is a standard road car and a helmet... There is no need for a harness, roll cage or any other race gear. For information on this, email info@lochgelly-motorsport-complex.co.uk

Championship's All Round
Added 11 Oct 2009 By K18EVN
Sat 10th Review
It was a quick Saturday night at Racewall last week, with some super racing amongst the stock rods.

Opened up the meeting with the last chance qualifier for driver's that hadn't made the grid - The top 6 from the race would be eligible for the Scottish Championsip.

It was Craig Miller who took the chequer in his first stock rod race, in a night to be remembered! Craig took the chequer with a great move up the inside of the 57/165 drivers who were fighting for the lead.

The Scottish itself was a great race as well - One Craig Miller won't forget in a while anyway. In the opening laps, 101 clipped the wall coming onto the home straight bouncing across the track collecting the reigning champion Davy Philp in the process. Numerous other cars piled in, including 577 Craig Miller who ran into the back of the 101 car, with someone else running into the back of Craig - 1 meeting, 1 win, 1 written off car! A complete restart was called for with 10 cars out of the race all ready.

It was Tony Lattka who got away first from Kerr Paterson and Jonathon Lattka with Martin Rankine not too far behind.

The 67 car developed a bit of a misfire and allowed 647 to try around the outside, however Kerr had enough speed in the car to hold him off for most of the time. The cars then had a little coming together, and Kerr clipped the inner post ending his race.

As the race progressed Robert McDonald made way through the pack, and before too long was up into 2nd place chasing down Tony Lattka. In the space of 7/8 laps he'd realed him in, but there was only 3/4 laps of the race left in order to pass him. Robert didn't hang around looking for a gap, instead he powered round the outside, and after a lap or 2, managed to get his nose in front - Great driving from the pair of them not to tangle with each other. From there on in, it was 17's race, who was followed home by 657, 647, and 644. 647 was later docked by the steward for his coming together with 67.

The F2s were reasonable as well, with George MacMillan driving the car like he'd stole it. He was like a man possessed and was puting in some outstanding laps, with Mr Moodie having to really hit him a few times in order to move him out the way to get past over the course of the night. Some great racing between the 2 of them. Here's hoping a few other drivers can take a leaf out of George's book and make the racing interesting rather than just moving out the way. Well done George, and Gordon for not puting him in the wall. Respect.

The saloons were dominated by Gunner Lattka who is racing away with ease from the blues since his downgrade. The car is flying as well which is making it almost impossible for the reds to get anywhere near him. Stevie and Paul Honeyman were the best of the rest over the course of the night, with Stu Shevill Jnr and Robbie Burgoyne having a few gremlins.

Online Racin' This Week
This coming Tuesday we are battling it out for the black and white chequers for the National Hot Rods and F1s.

The national hot rods will take place at Bristol Raceway, where the track is quick, challenging and could be over with 1 mistake over that dreaded bump.

Will Kev152 add the British to his World Championship crown, or will the Wizard of Rods have something to say and add it to his European crown?

Numerous drivers will be in with a shout should they stay out of trouble, the ever consistent Deano 262 will be looking to take some silverware away with him, likewise Brontew.

Could the new kid on the block, legend13, take his first championship since joining the league? I wouldn't be surprised giving his all round form across all formula in recent times.

One thing is for sure, it promises to be a cracking meeting with some close fast non contact racing.

The F1s on the other hand will be fighting it out around Belle Vue (New) for there British Championship too. The track and the posts could make it anyone's race. The key here is to stay off the posts and keep a smooth line. Watch out for the infield tires as well.

We could see 1 of many people taking the honours, Brontew, Deano, Ant, Kev, Legend, JT, Fraser. 1 thing is for sure though, is that it promises to be entertaining. The unexpected is possible, let the unexpected happen.

Get yourself booked in for these two fantastic meetings now!

Wednesday we have the F2s and Saloons battling it out at Belle Vue Raceway (new). The saloons and F2s always provide action packed fast racing, again, not a meeting to be missed.

Banger Open Scottish
This coming Saturday we have the 2.0 Banger Open Scottish at Racewall. We can probably expect a few southerners to make the journey north for what is becoming the most popular banger formula in this area of the country.

The Scottish itself could be anyones, and is likely to be the first Banger race of the night. Here's hoping a good turnout show's up, and put on a fantastic show for the punters.

The bangers will be supported by F2s and Saloons. We can expect the regular drivers, but I doubt there will be much in the way of visitors with Birmingham also on for the 2s, and Mildenhall for the Saloons.

Lets Get Ready to Rumble.
