Turner's Talk 18th June 2011

BURGOYNE ON SONG!

Chris Burgoyne was in good form on difficult track conditions, which had the drivers searching for grip. It had rained for most of the day with a steady drizzle throughout the meeting and with a coating of oil it presented the drivers with a slippery surface.
However Chris Burgoyne was in top form with his self built chassis and coasted to a comfortable heat win. Although starting from the back row of the red graders when the final started Burgoyne made steady progress through the field and was reeling in the leader Tom Adcroft when there was a race suspension. Within two laps of the restart Burgoyne was ahead before going through to win and add 30 points to his qualifying total.

BACK AGAIN

Two drivers were making their first appearances of the season on the formula IIs coming in the form of Trevor Harris and Stuart Mitchell.
It’s been almost a year since Mitchell raced but he quickly was in the groove, qualified for the final but didn’t manage to end up in the
results.
Harris on the other hand says it’s been a couple of years since he last raced and he was going reasonably well in his heat only to spin and be collected by George MacMillan Jnr when his diff seized!
Oh and by the way he was moaning at me ‘cos I didn’t have any coffee with me!

ALDRIDGE COMES NORTH

Jack Aldridge was a welcome visitor to the Racewall from the south west but in the conditions that prevailed didn’t really get a chance to show his form.
Aldridge has shot up the grading list in his first season to superstar status and will certainly be one driver to watch over the coming years.

A STIRLING PERFORMANCE

In the saloons it was yellow grader Alan Stirling who dominated making capital of his grade and literally walked away with all three races. If Alan carries on in this vein then it’s back up the grades he will go with a vengeance!

HOWIE’S FIRST WIN

Kieran Howie was in good form with his mini on Saturday night and when he ran away with heat two it not only gave him a deserved victory it was also his first!
It looked as if he might repeat his victory in heat two but the reds managed to catch him during the latter stages of the race and he had to settle for fourth!
In this sort of form a red grade will soon be beckoning.

KNOCKHILL QUALIFYING ROUND

On Wednesday 22nd June Knockhill holds its formula II World Championship qualifying round and hopefully there will be a good turn
out of drivers.
Chris Burgoyne will be looking to add to his Racewall success whilst we should have Gordon Moodie, both Graham and Stuart Kelly in action to add to the scores they already have.
Usually there are a few English cars at the qualifying round so hopefully there will be a sufficient turn out of cars to make it a good
meeting.
