Turner's Talk 22nd October 2011

SLICK SHEVILL TAKES SCOTTISH

Congratulations to Stuart Shevill on an excellent drive in the saloon Scottish Championship. In the pits he made his tyre decision, not wets, and then drew grid position 13 out of the hat! On the parade lap when the rain began to get heavier he must have had thoughts about his tyres but his decision proved to be right and over the closing stages he caught long time leader, Ian McLaughlin, sent him bouncing off the wall before going through to win.

MOODIE GN CHAMPION

Twenty four formula II drivers turned up for the GN Championship including the defending champion Chris Bradbury who was going for his fourth in a row!
It was overcast on the parade lap but it started to rain when the cars were lined up with Gordon Moodie on pole with Bradbury alongside whilst behind were Sam Wagner and Robbie Dawson.
Moodie led the race from start to finish winning from Chris Burgoyne and Dawson with Bradbury in fourth.

MARTIN TAKES TURNER TROPHY IN STOCK RODS

There was plenty of exciting racing in the stock rods where the heat wins went to Kerr Paterson and Michael Bethune.
The final saw Siobhan Martin go through to win although she had Chris Lattka in close order for most of the race.
The stock rod numbers were swelled with the appearance of Dean Whiteley, Scott and Thomas Naismith and Sammy Douglas whilst Steve Douglas was back after an absence.

MINIS SPLASHING IN THE RAIN!

The weather conditions certainly didn’t deter the ministox drivers from serving up their usual action packed races but only two this time!
Liam Rennie went through to win the opening heat whilst Zak Gilmour claimed the honours in heat two.

LIGHTNING SCOTTISH

This Saturday it’s the Scottish Championship for Lightning rods and hopefully most of the drivers will turn up.
Depending on the line up it’s hard to predict a winner although Lindsay Wilson should come out on top. However Derek Nimmo, Chris Dearns and Alex Imrie have all proved to be useful and recent winners so let’s wait and see!

NOT LONG NOW AND EXPECT FIREWORKS

It is hard to believe that there are only three weeks till the end of the season but in that time we have some cracking meetings and plenty of fireworks both on and off the track.
The Saloon Superbowl is heading our way fast and when you get a field of English, Irish and Scottish drivers you can expect plenty of fireworks. Amongst those heading north will be World Champion Eddie Darby, David Aldous and Shane Brown whilst Ryan Wright should be over from Ireland. Then you have the Scottish drivers who will be eager to show the visitors that in 2012 they are going to be the ones to beat!
The formula IIs have their Champion of Champions race to contest and that will be quite a race!
The season now ends on the 5th November, replacing the cancelled meeting in March and afterwards there will be a firework display par excellence as GMP sign out of a successful season with plenty of hope for 2012!
