Turners Talk 23rd April 2011

HOGG DOMINATES FORMULA II FINAL

John Hogg rounded off an exciting start to his formula II career when he won the Scot Steel final on Saturday night and will now need a
yellow roof for the weekend!  Hogg started off with a sixth and a second in his heats but was never headed during the final despite their being a race suspension.  However when the first gradings are announced expect to see Hogg sporting a blue roof!

BONNAR TAKES WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MAXIMUM

Billy Bonnar was in unstoppable form during the NHRPA World Championship qualifying round and as such has extended his lead in the
points table.  Bonnar easily won both heats but it took him until lap seven before he took the lead during the final and once ahead slowly extended his lead as he went through to an easy victory.

VISITORS

There were three welcome saloon visitors coming in the form of Shaun McMillan, Paul Tuppen and Luke Grief.  All did well with Tuppen going to win heat two and was over the moon at his success.  All three scored well and hopefully will be back with us soon!

ROCKIN’ AND ROLLIN’

Holly Glen was in a big shunt on the pit bend which resulted in her car rolling and coming to rest on its roof. Luckily she exited her car unhurt and whilst she returned for the final the team had to perform major repairs in the pits and she was rewarded with a seventh in the GN. Stephen Forster had a big ride around the pit bend wall, probably running the full length of the wall before the car crashed back down onto the track. Like Glen he was back out but had to retire with damaged suspension.  Barry Russell was edged into the top bend wall in the saloons resulting in his car rolling and landing back on all four wheels. However he had to retire from the meeting.

McVAY BACK!

It was good to see Pete McVay back in the hot rods and going well! Pete was telling me that he is now back to full fitness and seemed to enjoy his racing although he eventually had to retire from the final – not out of puff – but with a mechanical problem!

GRANT’S DOUBLE!

Andy Grant made it two final wins in succession at the Racewall when he won the stock rod final. There was an early three car dice for the lead but when Grant caught them he worked his way through before going on to win.

KNOCKHILL TO START!

Bear in mind Knockhill returns on Wednesday the 27th April where the saloons, formula IIs, hot rods and lightning rods take part.
