Turner's Talk 25th June 2011

RENNIE ROLLS

Liam Rennie was the only driver to end up rolling his car in the wet and greasy conditions.
Rennie had been well placed in all three of his previous races but found himself on the outside line going round the pit bend. The gap he
was heading for began to close and the next thing he knew he was riding the wall before rolling his car.
Luckily he scrambled out of his car unhurt but the team was busy repairing the car before trying to get it back into the trailer.

DRIFTIN’ AROUND!

Look for a demonstration from at least one of the Scot drift car team on Saturday night as a prelude to Sunday’s motor show.
It is quite unbelievable the speed they can achieve on the short oval and the smoke that they trail behind as they try to go sideways around the track!

GORDON’S DOUBLE!

Dean Gordon had a good night in the stock rods and ended up with two wins to his credit!
Gordon hadn’t figured in the results during the heats but as it was an “all car” format was able to race in the final. Boy did he make good
use, moved quickly from his yellow grade into the lead and as those behind squabbled over who was going to challenge opened up a gap before going through to win.
It was a similar story during the Allcomers race where he again dominated and as a result of his two wins will be looking for the blue paint in the garage!

PAGE MAKES IT TWO IN A ROW

Tam Page was in top form in his prostox and as a result of winning a heat then the final will be changing his roof colour to red for his
next outing.
Mind you he had to keep an inform Jardine Millar at bay, the latter picking up a win in the other heat.
However during the Allcomers race both had to take a back seat as Craig Jones went through to win.

CRACKING MINISTOX RACING

Well done the ministox drivers who were in good form on the greasy track surface but in particular to Gemma Russell, Camie McGowan and Liam Rennie who were just that bit quicker than the others.
In fact you could see all three racing in close order for most of the time.
Kieran Howie picked up his second win in as many weeks before Russell, Rennie and McGowan picked up their wins.

NIMMO’S WINNING RETURN

Derek Nimmo, who used to race hot rods at the Racewall around five years ago made a return to the scene in a lightning rod.
Nimmo had a good start to his lightning rod career winning the second heat and picking up third places in heat one and the final.

MOTOR SHOW

On Sunday there is a car show at the Racewall featuring the Skyline owners club, Clan Japan, Stock cars, Classic cars and quite a few other car clubs bringing their cars along. There will also be a demonstration by the Scot drift team who will also be treating a few spectators to a seat in their cars as they power them around the track.
There will also be a few traders stands on the sidelines.
The show is being covered in Total magazines with the editor making a trip from Lincolnshire to cover the event.
Admission is free but a donation to a local charity would be appreciated.
