BriSCA F2 Mechanics Race for the F2 Drivers Ben Fund

26th July 2024

BriSCA F2 Mechanics Race

in aid of the Drivers Benevolent Fund

The Third running of the Spanner Trophy for Mechanics is taking place on Sunday 4th August as the last race of the afternoon. The rules for the event are provided below as well as a link to the sponsorship form.

The race seeks to raise funds (through participants raising sponsorship money) for the F2 Drivers Benevolent Fund, and this year with the main Ben Fund Title being held the day before at Crimond, it seemed the perfect opportunity to pair up the event to make a weekend of Ben Fund celebrations and fundraising.

Rules of the Event

  • The main aim of the race is to raise as much money as possible for the BriSCA F2 Drivers Benevolent Fund. Each participant should aim to raise through sponsorship– this is to support he drivers who entertain us week in and week out.
  • There will be trophies for the top three and the highest fundraiser.
  • All monies raised should be submitted to the BriSCA F2 Ben Fund treasurer on race night or online donations can be agreed by arrangement.
  • The registered BriSCA F2 driver can nominate any person to race as their’ mechanic’ – in this one race. It does not need to be their licenced mechanic. The only exclusion to participation is that the mechanic cannot have held a licence to race a BriSCA F2 or other open wheeled stock car formula driver in the last five years nor have raced in an open wheeled formula on a day licence in the last 12 months
  • All participants must complete a BriSCA F2 Licence form and submit to the Cowdenbeath Racewall Office on race day – there is no charge and the Cowdenbeath Racewalld will cover the £2 ORCi Health and Safety levy.
  • It is the race teams responsibility to ensure the ‘Mechanic’ has the required overalls and protective equipment.
  • The ‘Mechanic’ should have use of a race receiver for the event.
  • All drivers must attend the mandatory briefing prior to the event.
  • Participants on track will be gridded according to an assessment of their experience with those with the most experience in a senior formula towards the very rear of the field.
