The Borthwick Dynasty

8th September 2026

The future of Cowdenbeath Racewall is looking incredibly bright. This iconic venue continues to thrive and deliver unforgettable nights of racing and we’re excited about keeping the magic alive for generations to come.

The Borthwick family have been lifelong fans of Cowdenbeath Racewall, and officially took over running it in 2008. Three generations of the family work tirelessly to make the Racewall what it is today: the home of Scottish Stock Car racing, where engines roar, tyres scream, metal flies and fans young and old come together for one unforgettable night of racing.

That family commitment is still at the heart of every meeting – from the first green flag to the final chequered one.

David Borthwick is the driving force behind Racewall, leading the race meetings with (more than) a little help from his wife Linda, who keeps everything moving behind the scenes. His son Stuart manages facilities, making sure the stadium is always in top condition, while being his dad’s Number 2. David’s granddaughter (and Stuart’s daughter) Jordyn is Racewall’s Marketing Manager, delivering the creativity and fresh ideas that keep Racewall moving forward. Jordyn’s partner (also called Jordan) and sister Taylor Borthwick provide plenty of entertainment on the track itself, racing Saloons and adding to the family’s sporting spirit. That’s before we even mention the fourth generation… Jordyn and Jordan’s son may only be a toddler, but he’s already a superfan – and a future champion in the making.

That’s not even all the family! Gareth, David’s youngest son, works as a Steward and Iain Borthwick is the mastermind behind Micro F2s. And behind every great man is a great woman… Stuart’s wife Dianne and Iain’s wife Katie are integral to making things come to life. Also there’s Keith Ramsay – the Race Manager who is part of the Racewall family alongside all the incredible volunteers that keep the place ticking.

Racewall is not just where they work. It is part of who they are.

For the Borthwicks, Racewall is far more than a stadium or a Saturday-night job – it is family, history and a shared passion passed from one generation to the next. From those organising the meeting behind the scenes to those racing on the track, their commitment helps keep the spirit of Racewall alive. With the Brewster family’s continued investment and the Borthwicks’ energy at its heart, the next chapter of Cowdenbeath Racewall is in very safe hands.
